Robotics Electrical Engineer

About the Role:

We're looking for a Robotics Electrical Engineer to design and build the electrical systems behind Lume. You'll own electrical development from early prototypes through production-ready designs. This includes wire harnesses, power systems, battery and charging architecture, custom PCBs, system integration, and working closely with our mechanical, software, and design teams to bring an entirely new robotic form factor into homes.

What You'll Do:

• Design and prototype electrical systems for a new category of home robotics
• Own system-level electrical architecture including power distribution, safety, grounding, and signal integrity
• Design wire harnesses, connector schemes, and interconnect systems for moving robotic assemblies
• Develop custom PCBs for motor control, sensing, power management, and embedded subsystems
• Build and validate battery systems, charging systems, and power electronics for consumer robotic products
• Integrate motors, sensors, actuators, embedded controllers, and higher-level software systems
• Support rapid prototyping in the lab: bring-up, debugging, rework, validation, and iteration
• Work with suppliers and manufacturers to move designs toward EVT/DVT/PVT and mass production readiness
• Drive DFM/DFT decisions and support test fixture development and manufacturing processes
• Work flexible shifts including nights/weekends as needed

What We're Looking For:

• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals in robotics, embedded systems, or electromechanical products
• Hands-on experience with wiring, harnessing, PCB bring-up, debugging, and bench testing
• Experience designing custom PCBs and working with common tools for schematic capture and layout
• Familiarity with batteries, BMS, charging, DC power systems, and safe power architecture
• Comfortable integrating motors, encoders, sensors, microcontrollers, and communication buses
• Able to debug across the stack: electrical, firmware, mechanical integration, and system behavior
• Understands how to design for reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and safety
• Can lead work with minimal guidance in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
• Communicates clearly and concisely
• Mandaring speaking is a plus (to interact with our Chinese suppliers)
• From a top 20 global university

Nice to Have:

• Experience with robotics, consumer electronics, EV systems, or battery-powered hardware products
• Familiarity with EMI/EMC, certification, compliance, and production test strategy
• Experience working directly with overseas vendors, CM/ODM partners, or NPI teams
• Obsessed with thoughtful design; cares about how great hardware feels, not just how it functions
• Low-ego collaborator who gives and receives kind, actionable feedback
• Brings intensity, taste, and a bias toward building fast

Details:

• Full time and internship (6-month minimum contract) options available
• In person, M–F, 9–6.
• Health benefits included, company holidays, team meals, sick leave, etc.
• Preference given to candidates who can start immediately.

How to Apply:

Send your resume and a cover letter with bullet points explaining why you’re the perfect candidate for this role (highlighting relevant experiences, projects, publications, and skills). If someone referred you, please include their name in the application.

If there's something unique about you, please mention it. The clearer and more concise, the better 🙂. Make sure to mention your expected start date.

Send application to: hello@syncereai.com
